Jab Jab Survival Guide
Locals know… come prepared before you hit the road.
Oil your skin first
Coat your skin in baby oil or coconut oil BEFORE motor oil hits. It makes cleanup easier and protects your skin.
Wear clothes you can throw away
Motor oil doesn't come out. Pick an outfit you're okay saying goodbye to at the end of the road.
Old shoes only
No brand-new sneakers. Wear closed-toe shoes you're ready to trash — the road gets messy.
Protect your hair
Plastic cap, scarf, stocking cap, or tie your hair up. Trust the locals on this one.
The local charcoal mix
Some locals mix activated charcoal powder with baby oil as part of their Jab Jab prep. Optional, but traditional.
Waterproof your phone
Use a waterproof pouch or a sealed zip bag. Oil, water, powder — protect your device.
Bring a change of clothes
Pack a clean outfit and towel for after. You'll thank yourself.
Stay hydrated
Drink water before AND during Carnival. The road is long, the sun is hot — pace yourself.
